Connect to a MicroLogix Device

This driver requires the OPC UA module to be installed and enabled. If the module is missing or disabled, the device will fault with a “Missing Dependency” error on the Platform System > Modules page.

  1. On the Gateway, go to Connections > Devices > Connections.

  2. Click Create Device Connection +.

  3. Select Allen-Bradley MicroLogix and click Next.

  4. On the Configure Device screen, enter the required fields:

    • Name: MicroLogix
    • Hostname: The IP address of the device (e.g., 10.20.7.77)

  5. Click Create Device Connection.

The device will be listed now on the Connections page. The status will initially show Disconnected, but will move to a Connected state.

Device Connection Settings

Connectivity

NameDescription
HostnameThe Hostname value is the IP Address of the MicroLogix 1100 processor, MicroLogix 1400 processor or 1761-NET-ENI Ethernet interface. EthernetIP protocol on TCP port 44818 (0xAF12) is used to communicate to the listed devices.
Local AddressThe local address to connect from when establishing a TCP connection. If left blank, then the driver will select an available address.
TimeoutThe maximum amount of time to wait, in milliseconds, for responses from the processor.
Connection PathThe connection path to the processor. If specified, the slot number setting is ignored, so be sure to terminate the path with backplane and slot number. [Optional]

Advanced

NameDescription
Disable Processor BrowseDisables processor browse setting. May be required for some MicroLogix 1200 or 1500 devices.
Zero TNS ConnectionDisables the Zero TNS connection setting.
Browse Cache TimeoutThe amount of time, in milliseconds, to cache tag structure results read from the device.

Supported Connection Methods

This driver supports:

  • MicroLogix 1100 and 1400 direct over Ethernet/IP
  • MicroLogix 1100 and 1400 through a 1761-NET-ENI Ethernet interface
  • MicroLogix 1100 and 1400 through a Spectrum Controls WebPort 500
caution

MicroLogix 1200 and 1500 are not fully supported. These devices do not support tag browsing, so Disable Processor Browse must be enabled. Additionally, the MicroLogix driver does not support access to Input Parameters.

note

If a MicroLogix device becomes stuck in a "Browse Pending" state, try setting the Connection Path property to 1,0 to force routing through backplane slot 0.
