# Twilio Notification

The Twilio Integration and Alarm Notification module enables SMS and voice alarm notification and acknowledgement capabilities with Twilio using the following notification profiles:

Additionally, this module unlocks the system.twilio functions. See the [system.twilio](appendix/scripting-functions/system-twilio/system-twilio.md) section of the appendix for more details.

The Twilio Notification module requires that the Alarm Notification module is also installed on the same Gateway.

No additional hardware is required, so there is no need to worry about firmware updates or hardware failure. ## Send SMS Messages through Scripts

Integration with Twilio via an [Twilio SMS Notification Profile](../../../ignition-modules/alarm-notification/notification-profile-types/twilio-notification-profiles/twilio-sms-notification/twilio-sms-notification.md) sends SMS alarm notifications without a physical device. 

## Send Voice Notifications with a Phone Call

Creating a [Twilio Voice Alarm Notification Profile](../../../ignition-modules/alarm-notification/notification-profile-types/twilio-notification-profiles/twilio-voice-notification/twilio-voice-notification.md) allows you to configure a custom message delivered as an automated phone call when an alarm is triggered. The alarm can then be acknowledged through the phone call. 

## Send WhatsApp Notifications

A [Twilio WhatsApp Notification](ignition-modules\alarm-notification\notification-profile-types\twilio-notification-profiles\twilio-whatsapp-notification\twilio-whatsapp-notification.md) profile allows WhatsApp notifications to be sent. Template and free-form messages can be configured.
