General

Component Palette Icon:

Description

The Link component allows users to create a hyperlink that points to a destination such as a page, view, resource, or mount path that they can quickly navigate to. Links are easily identifiable because they typically have a different color font then the rest of the content, and an underscore when you hover over them. To configure a link, enter the URL for the destination, and the name of the link in the 'text' property.

Properties

Most Properties have binding options. For more information on Bindings, see Types of Bindings in Perspective.
This section only documents the Props Category of properties. The other Categories are described on the Perspective Component Properties page.

NameDescriptionProperty Type
urlA URL, URL fragment, or Page that the hyperlink points to. Destination, resource, or mount path to navigate to. If the target is another mounted view, simply specify the mount path, starting with a "/" character. For instance, if a view is mounted at data/perspective/client/MyProjectName/status, setting the target to '/status' will properly navigate to the status mount when clicked.value: string
textText to display in the link.value: string
targetSpecifies where to display the linked URL. Common values such as 'self' for the current tab/context, 'tab' or 'blank' for a new tab, 'parent' for the parent frame tab/context, or 'top' for the full body of the window. Otherwise, supports standard w3c values for anchor link target attributes.value: string dropdown
styleSets a style for this component. Full menu of style options is available for text, background, margin and padding, border, shape and miscellaneous. You can also specify a style class.object

Perspective Component Events

The Perspective Event Types Reference page describes all the possible component event types for Perspective components. Not all component events support each Perspective component. The Perspective Events and Actions page shows how to configure events and actions on a Perspective component. Component scripting is handled separately and can be accessed from the Component menubar or by right clicking on the component.

Examples
Example

You can use links to go to URL links outside your project or internal to your project.
For this example we have some screens defined in the project page configuration (home gear). The URLs for those are /screen_1, /screen_2, and /screen_3.

The three Link components in this example have the following settings:

Link Component 1

PropertyValueStyle Category
props.url/screen_1N/A
props.textScreen 1N/A
props.style.text.textAligncentertext

Link Component 2

PropertyValueStyle Category
props.url/screen_2N/A
props.textScreen 2N/A
props.targettabN/A
props.style.textAlign
