Abbreviation(s):
  • EoNG

An Edge of Network Gateway is a physical device that is used to connect to things like PLCs and send data back to a central server. This is commonly referred to when talking about MQTT.

Elecsys Created Oct 3, 2018 (17:49)

Elecsys Corp is a company that has created Edge of Network devices that use MQTT and have hundreds of built-in drivers to communicate to various PLCs.

Elecsys Director Created Oct 3, 2018 (17:49)

Synonym(s):
  • Director,
  • RediGate,
  • RediLink

An Edge of Network Gateway (device) made by Elecsys Corp that has hundreds of built-in drivers to communicate to various PLCs. It can communicate to devices through Ethernet or Serial and sends data back to a MQTT Server through Ethernet, Satellite, or Cellular connections.

Enterprise Created Oct 3, 2018 (17:49)

Refers to a collection of sites, computers, or projects that are all connected together. Often there is one controller that coordinates between the other systems. Often used in Ignition referring to the EAM or Enterprise Administration Module.

Enterprise Architecture Module Created Oct 3, 2018 (17:49)

A lot of people think this is what EAM stands for, but it is not. EAM is the acronym for the Enterprise Administration Module.

Enterprise Resource Planning Created Mar 14, 2019 (17:17)

Software for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) manages business processes with a system of integrated applications that also automate back office functions related to technology, services, and human resources. Examples are SAP or Microsoft Dynamics ERP.

Ethernet Created Oct 3, 2018 (17:49)

The standard for cabling devices together in a network. All new computers come with Ethernet; any reference to 'network,' 'network ready,' 'LAN,' 'LAN connection' or 'network card' implies EthernetEthernet uses cables to connect devices. Many PLCs are connected through Ethernet, meaning they can be connected directly to the network and the OPC server can communicate without going through another device. A serial-to-Ethernet converter (device) can be used on some older serial PLCs to make them appear on the network as normal Ethernet PLCs. See also Network, LANEdge of Network Gateway.

Expression Tag Created Oct 3, 2018 (17:49)

These tags are driven by an expression. The expression syntax is the same as for property bindings, and allows mathematical operations, references to other tags, logic operations, and more.

ERP Created Oct 3, 2018 (17:49)

See Enterprise Resource Planning.

Extensible Markup Language Created Oct 3, 2018 (17:50)

See XML.

EAM Created Oct 8, 2018 (22:20)

The Enterprise Administration Module (EAM) allows a user to control and monitor any number of Ignition Gateways from a central Gateway. The EAM takes advantage of the Gateway Network system to seamlessly deliver data between Gateways.

Edge Created Sep 11, 2018 (21:33)

Ignition Edge is a different version of Ignition that is designed for smaller or embedded computers. These installations tend to live at the edge of the network where it is difficult to set up a full sized computer.

ETL Created Oct 30, 2018 (15:56)

Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) describes three database functions that are combined into one tool to pull data out of one database and place it into another database. This process is used in data warehousing responsible for pulling data out of the source systems and placing it into a data warehouse.

Extract, Transform and Load Created Oct 30, 2018 (15:57)

See ETL.

End User License Agreement (EULA) Created Mar 22, 2019 (18:34)

An End User License Agreement (EULA) is a legal contract between a software application author or publisher and the user of that application. In Ignition, the EULA is part of System Commissioning and installation of modules.

EULA Created Mar 22, 2019 (18:34)

See End User License Agreement.
